PCA AGM and Inter Counties Golf DayWith a number of important issues to discuss, the PCA’s Annual General Meeting took place at The Belfry on Monday 6th October 2008 with over 60 players attending. Dinner followed the AGM, which saw Simon Cook from Kent win the Best Rep prize and David Ford, Chairman of the PCA Benevolent Fund, give a short speech on the importance of the players’ own charity. Hampshire’s Michael Brown, Glamorgan’s David Harrison and Gloucester’s Alex Gidman battled it out for the title of PCA Spoof Champion 2008 with Alex ending up victorious! 8am the following morning unfortunately brought miserable conditions for those taking part in the Inter Counties Golf Day on the magnificent Brabazon course. However, the damp conditions did not put off the hardy golfers and the Worcestershire team of Ben Smith, Gareth Batty, Gareth Andrew and Chris Whelan won the Inter Counties title for 2008. The 2006 winners, Durham, with Graham Onions, Gordon Muchall, Phil Mustard and Neil Killeen came second, whilst for the second year running Hampshire secured third place with their team of Michael Brown, Michael Lumb, Sean Ervine and James Tomlinson. |
