Anderson and Prior Support ASDA Kwik Cricketers

Tuesday 24th July was an exciting day for 30 young players from Dulwich CC, who got the chance to meet their cricketing heroes, James Anderson and Matt Prior, for an Asda Kwik Cricket coaching session.

The day after the 1st Investec Test Match against South Africa, the stars spent a beautiful morning at The Kia Oval sharing their tips on the game, and passing on to the lucky children, who were selected by Surrey CCC.

Former Nottinghamshire cricketer, Jimmy Hindson, led the session, helped by cricket development staff and volunteers from Surrey CCC. Prior and Anderson offered one-on-one advice and joined in with drills, as well as getting competitive in the games! At the end of the session, the children were able to have their photos taken with the stars, and get their Asda Kwik Cricket t-shirts signed.

ASDA Kwik Cricket is a modified version of the game that involves a soft ball, and keeps all players involved as much as possible; offering a great introduction to the sport. The ASDA Kwik Cricket Competition takes place between May and July every year, and culminates in the national finals held in July at Leicestershire CCC’s Grace Road.

A great morning was had by all, with the children leaving inspired having met their heroes. Thanks go to the Cricket Development Team at Surrey CCC for helping to make the day possible, as well as to Jimmy Hindson for running the session.
