New Appointments at PCA-17/12/12 Professional Cricketers’ Association Announce Mark Wallace as Successor to Vikram Solanki as PCA Chairman The Professional Cricketers’ Association is delighted to announce that Mark Wallace will be succeeding Vikram Solanki as PCA Chairman, following the Association’s Annual General Meeting on 30 January 2013. Vikram stands down after serving two successive two-year terms, and under his Chairmanship the organisation has gone from strength to strength. Wallace made his debut for Glamorgan in 1999, and has been a stalwart of the side ever since, becoming captain in 2012. His election is a mark of the high regard in which he is held by his fellow professionals. PCA Chief Executive, Angus Porter, commented, ” Vikram has seen the PCA through some challenging times, and when I joined the Association, he had served a period as interim Chief Executive, which makes us doubly grateful for the contribution he has made over the last four years. He is a man of great character and integrity, universally respected throughout the game, and Mark is an outstanding choice to continue the good work Vikram has done, whilst adding a mark of his own.” Vikram Solanki added, ” I have greatly enjoyed my time as Chairman of the PCA, and am really happy that I am being succeeded by Wally, who I believe will be an excellent Chairman. I wish him every success in the role.” Mark Wallace paid tribute to his predecessor, ” Filling Vikram’s sizeable shoes is a daunting challenge, and on behalf of all the players, I’d like to thank him for everything he has done as PCA Chairman. I’m a big believer that the PCA is about the players – and by that I mean all the players, from the greenest rookies to the oldest pros. I look forward to playing my part in ensuring that the PCA continues to enhance the careers and lives of cricketers, past present and future. Professional Cricketers’ Association Announce the Appointment of Paul Garrett as Finance Director The Professional Cricketers’ Association has appointed Paul Garrett to the newly created post of Finance Director. The management of the PCA’s finances was previously outsourced to Dyke Yaxley, who remain an important strategic partner for the Association. Dyke Yaxley will continue to manage the finances of the Team England Player Partnership and the PCA Professional Cricketers’ Trust. Paul qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG, and has over twenty years of experience, much of it at Board Level as a Finance Director within advertising agencies, notably HHCL and Partners and VCCP. His experience includes guiding relatively small businesses through a period of sustained and successful growth. Angus Porter, PCA Chief Executive, commented, ” We are very grateful to Dyke Yaxley, and to Elaine Nelson in particular, for the wise guidance and high-quality service we have received over many years, and look forward to continuing the relationship for many more. However, we believe that Finance is a core strategic function, and the time was right to bring the management of the Finance function in-house. We had many applicants for the role, however we believe Paul Garrett will be able to contribute significantly to our future success” . Paul Garrett added, ” I am delighted to be joining the PCA. I believe in its aims, and am looking forward to contributing to their achievements. I believe the combination of my experience, and my passion for cricket, makes me ideally suited to the role.” Paul takes up his position with the PCA on 7 January 2013. He will be based at the Kia Oval. -Ends- For further information and comment, please contact Angus Porter on 07584 262083 or Jason Ratcliffe on 07768 558050.
