England Players Raise Tons Of Ashes Cash For PCA Professional Cricketers’ Trust – 16/09/2009 At the start of the npower Ashes Series 2009, Official Betting Partner of the ECB, Betfair kindly agreed to donate £ 1,000 to the PCA Professional Cricketers’ Trust for every English century scored. After two great batting performances by Andrew Strauss and debutant Jonathan Trott, we are delighted to announce that Betfair will be making a £ 2,500 donation to the PCA Professional Cricketers’ Trust. Betfair spokesman Andy Lulham said: "We would like to congratulate England on their emphatic Ashes victory and are delighted to be able to donate £ 2,500 to the PCA Professional Cricketers’ Trust." While we celebrate regaining the Ashes and the successes of the England team involved in the win, it is poignant to remember cricketers who have fallen on hard times. The PCA Professional Cricketers’ Trust is part of the PCA’s on-going commitment in helping current and former players and their dependants in times of hardship, upheaval or to readjust to the world after cricket. PCA Chief Executive Sean Morris commented: "We are extremely grateful for Betfair’s generous donation, which will go a long way to supporting the Fund’s work. Few vocations carry so much uncertainty as that of a professional cricketer. The demands of playing any sport for a living, leaves little time to consider and plan for possible disasters or upheavals in the future."
