World’s Best Cricket Club organises cricket festival in aid of Professional Cricketers’ Trust.

The ‘World’s Best Cricket Club’ podcast has revealed details of its inaugural Family Cricket Fun Day on Tuesday 13 August 2024. The event is to raise money for the Professional Cricketers’ Trust whilst having some cricketing action in South West London at Teddington Cricket Club.
The showpiece event includes a T20 game between World’s Best Cricket Club XI and Smashing Legends XI. Some household names from English cricket will take part in the event, including Monty Panesar, Paul Nixon and Smashings captain Alex Tudor.
World’s Best Cricket Club podcast host Simon Hughes, also known as the ‘Analyst’ will apply his traits against the past and present professional cricketers.
Panesar will form part of the WBCC XI where they will take on the Smashing Legends XI. He represented England from 2006 to 2013 and played 50 Test matches for the Three Lions.
The Smashing Legends XI, meanwhile, will comprise of former England internationals like Nixon, Mal Loye and Stuart Meaker. The trio have collectively gone on to represent the seniors’ men’s side 31 times in ODIs and T20Is.
Nixon, along with Panesar, formed part of the England squad which travelled to the Caribbean for the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Popular content creator Dan Jadzevics from ourCricket will also form part of the WBCC team on that day, which also boasts Surrey Women’s captain Amy Gordon.
There will be a second T20 game preceding the main event, between the hosts, Teddington Cricket Club XI and the Barmy Army XI. The latter will include the group’s renowned trumpeter Simon Finch (Finchy) who joins them for the event to add to the fantastic atmosphere.

The Family Cricket Fun Day will not be limited to the action on the field. The attendees will have a chance to get up close with the professionals during an exclusive lunch.
Hughes and others will host live masterclasses where they will share their valuable insights of the game. Hughes and Tudor will conduct the fast bowling class, while Panesar will be part of the spin bowling course. Hughes will team up with Nixon for a masterclass on wicketkeeping skills.
Other off-field activities include food and drinks, music, raffles and other games to keep the crowd entertained all throughout the day.
World’s Best Cricket Club aim to include more players to an already elite talent pool in the coming days. Stay tuned on their official website for further updates.
Officially registered in 2007, the Professional Cricketers’ Trust looks after the wellbeing of PCA members and their families. The Trust is always there for its members in tough times be in on or off the field, supporting them with education, medical care and mental health counselling.
