PCA sends condolences after former England legend passes away.

It is with great sadness that the PCA has been made aware of the passing of former Surrey and England batter Graham Thorpe.

The devasting news of the 55-year-old’s death will be felt by the cricketing family around the world.

The trailblazing left-hander played 100 Test matches for England, alongside 82 One Day Internationals, scoring 9,124 runs including 16 centuries for his country.

Thorpe scored more than 30,000 runs across his professional career, which spanned from 1988 until 2005.

PCA Managing Director of Member Services, Ian Thomas, said: “At the PCA we are heartbroken to hear of Graham’s passing and we offer our sincere condolences to all his family and friends.

“Graham was one of the finest English batters to grace the game and he will always be remembered for his extraordinary contributions to our sport.

“The PCA and Cricketers’ Trust remain available to anyone who is affected by this sad news.

“Rest in peace, Graham.”
