Neil Carter wins monthly FTI MVP award for July – 06/08/10 Warwickshire all-rounder Neil Carter has won the monthly FTI MVP award for July, adding to the award he received for his performances throughout April, to underline his credentials as one of the most consistent performers across all three domestic competitions this season. Carter’s impressive displays throughout two LV= County Championship matches, seven Friends Provident t20 matches and one Clydesdale Bank 40 match enabled the 35 year old to top the table with 349 runs and 16 wickets. Carter’s highest score during July came during a CB40 game against Leicestershire when the all-rounder hit 101 from 93 balls. An LV=CC game against Nottinghamshire led to another impressive performance with both bat and ball with the Warwickshire player scoring 99 in the first innings and taking 5-116 to earn 56.43 points from the match. Carter also picked up valuable points against Yorkshire, again in the LV=CC, with a four wicket haul. Carter made significant contributions for Warwickshire Bears throughout their FPt20 campaign taking five wickets in 23 overs with an economy rate of 6.56. Ravi Bopara and Marcus Trescothick also had excellent performances for their respective counties throughout July and claimed second and third places. Bopara accumulated 161.35 points, just 2.53 points behind Carter while Trescothick accrued 141.73 points. Jim Vint, Managing Director of FTI Consulting said: "As we move towards the business end of the domestic season Neil has become the first player to collect two FTI MVP awards. This reflects the excellent form Neil has been in both with bat and ball throughout the summer." Speaking on his achievement, Neil Carter said: "I’m delighted not only to have won the FTI MVP July award but also to still be top of the overall MVP. It has been an incredibly tight month and to pip quality players such as Ravi and Tres makes it extra special. I just I hope I can keep my form for a few more weeks." A monthly FTI MVP award is announced throughout the summer for the leading points scorer across the LV= County Championship, Friends Provident t20 and Clydesdale Bank 40 for that month. Previous winners include Ryan ten Doeschate (May) and Chaminda Vaas (June). FTI MVP awards are also presented to the leading domestic player at the end of each county season and the leading England player at the end of the domestic international season and again following the winter tour period. Originally conceived by the PCA, the FTI MVP Rankings (powered by PA Sport) are a cumulative points system that rewards players for every run scored, every wicket taken and every catch held – and how well they do it.
