The PCA brought together 12 of its partners on Tuesday for a webinar which highlighted the mutual benefits of forming a commercial partnership with the players’ association.

The rescheduled seminar, which was originally due to take place at the Kia Oval on Thursday 19 March, was led by the PCA’s Commercial Director Rob Lynch, as well as Lead Personal Development Managers Charlie Mulraine and Lynsey Williams.

Attendees learned how their partnership contributes directly to the Association’s tailored Personal Development and Welfare Programme (PDWP), which continues to help professional cricketers excel as individuals both on and off the field. Since 2012, the programme has helped 238 PCA members through their transition into a second career.

The group then received an outline of what PCA members can bring to their respective businesses, with current players and PCA Players’ Committee members Daryl Mitchell, Rob Keogh and Anuj Dal sending in video messages to explain why work experience continues to be so important to them personally.

"On behalf of New Balance, we are keen to learn more and explore how we can help and give something back through supporting cricketers past and present.”

Amongst those in attendance was ex-England star Simon Jones, who explained how he used a connection with a PCA commercial partner to begin his second career with insurance firm Kerry London. You can find out more about Simon’s experience of career transition in the latest issue of the PCA’s membership magazine, Beyond the Boundaries.

An open Q&A with the PCA team capped off Tuesday’s session, with player education, Covid-19 and the future of the PDWP all featuring amongst the hot topics of discussion.

Lead Personal Development Manager Lynsey Williams said: “The PCA’s commercial programme is vitally important in enabling us to offer the best support we can to professional cricketers in England and Wales.

“It was fantastic to bring together individuals from across the spectrum of our commercial partnerships to explain exactly how all parties can benefit from their continued support of the Association.

“The videos sent in by Daryl, Rob and Anuj made clear how important such support is to the players themselves, and that’s the reason why I look forward to doing more work with our commercial partners in the future.”

Amongst the commercial partners in attendance was Head of Cricket at New Balance Liam Burns who said: “The webinar was a great opportunity, alongside fellow PCA partner organisations, to learn more about this wonderful initiative.
