Following the ECB’s announcement earlier today that they are considering a 100-ball format for the new tournament, I can confirm that three weeks ago, Professional Cricketers’ Association Non-Executive Chairman Matthew Wheeler and I met with the ECB where they presented the idea of introducing the 100-ball format into the domestic game for both men and women.

We both agreed we were open minded to the concept and would need to go away and consult the PCA membership at the relevant time to represent their views to the ECB.

This afternoon I have been speaking to PCA Reps to start the consultation process. These discussions will widen as we aim to secure views of the membership and represent them as we continue to work with the ECB on developing the new competition for the benefit of players.
