Team Confirmed For PCA Masters V Australia Twenty20 Match On June 9 – 27/05/2005 The Professional Cricketers’ Association today confirmed the PCA Masters XI to take on Australia in a unique Twenty20 match at the spectacular Arundel Castle Cricket Club Ground in West Sussex, as part of Taylor Wessing Masters Series. The Australian’s Ashes tour of England begins on 9th June 2005 and in front of an anticipated full house, this game will provide the first chance to judge the form of the world number one team. The PCA Masters XI Stephen Fleming (captain) (Nottinghamshire & New Zealand) Chris Cairns (Nottinghamshire & New Zealand) Paul Collingwood (Durham & England) Devon Malcolm (former England player) Darren Maddy (Leicestershire & England) Chris Read (Nottinghamshire & England) Chris Lewis (former England player) Graeme Swann (Nottinghamshire & England) Mark Ealham (Nottinghamshire & England) Phil DeFreitas (Leicestershire & England) Kevin Pietersen (Hampshire & England) The tourists’ star players for this ICC and ECB sanctioned match are to include Glenn McGrath, Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist. Pietersen Kevin Pietersen said: "I’m really excited to be playing this game for the PCA Masters against Australia. Australia are currently leading the way in world cricket and I’m relishing the opportunity to compete against them. It should be a great day, and the twenty over format is sure to produce some fireworks." Collingwood Paul Collingwood said: "The Masters game presents a chance to have a first crack at the Aussie’s on their Ashes tour. Walking out onto the field alongside the likes of Stephen Fleming and Chris Cairns will be a great thrill and it’s sure to be a cracker of a game. Arundel will be packed to the rafters!" Fund Raiser Monies raised from the game will go towards the Professional Cricketers’ Association and the Australian Cricketers’ Association, for education, community and benevolent projects. The PCA will also make a donation towards Hampshire and Sussex youth cricket funds.
