Trott Collects FTI MVP Winter Award – 10/05/11 Jonathan Trott has topped the FTI MVP Rankings for the 2010/11 winter after cementing his position as England’s most consistent batsmen across both the Test and 50 over formats of the game. He amassed an impressive 244 points, which saw off competition from skipper Andrew Strauss and last year’s winner Graeme Swann, finishing with a huge 80 point lead courtesy of 1,242 runs which included four hundred and seven fifties. The 2010/11 FTI MVP Rankings cover the period from the end of the 2010 domestic season to the start of the 2011 international season. Trott’s performances during this time were instrumental in England’s Ashes success, where he contributed 445 runs, scoring 15.54% of England’s runs. It was, however, his consistency in the one-day format which saw him pull away from his colleagues. He scored 797 one-day runs at a strike rate of 81 runs per 100 balls with two hundreds and six fifties. On receiving the FTI MVP Award, Jonathan Trott said: "I am delighted to receive the England FTI MVP for winter 2010/11 and would like to thank FTI Consulting for this award. As a team, we’ve enjoyed a wonderful winter and I was extremely proud to have been able to play a part in helping England retain the Ashes in Australia for the first time in 24 years. It’s essential we now look to build on that performance in order to achieve our goal of becoming the number one ranked team in the world. I am excited about the challenges that lie ahead as we prepare to face Sri Lanka in what promises to be one our toughest summers of cricket in a number of years." Sebastian Mathews, Vice President in the Strategic Communications business segment of FTI Consulting, added: "Jonathan has become known as a consistent performer who can be relied upon to get runs on a regular basis and this is reflected in his dominance of the winter FTI MVP Rankings. Jonathan has delivered excellent performances throughout the winter and this award is recognition of that – many congratulations." Over the course of the winter, the England team won their first Ashes series on Australian soil in 24 years, doing so in emphatic style. They went on to reach the last eight of the ICC Cricket World Cup before succumbing to the eventual finalists, Sri Lanka. Back on home soil, they now face India and Sri Lanka in what is sure to be one of the toughest summers of cricket for a number of years.
